Cathedral of Faith
Legend Theatrical was chosen to upgrade the lighting system at Cathedral of Faith in San Jose, CA. Pastor Kurt Foreman said he chose Legend because of “Legend’s unbelievable customer support and vast knowledge of new technology.”
Working in a church environment can be tricky because the church can only be in a state of flux between Sundays. When the congregation enters the doors, everything has to be running smoothly. We performed our install in stages so that every Sunday had a higher level of functionality and more operative lights. Cathedral was fully operational by Christmas 2004, supporting an entire SGM moving head rig of 400 Spots, 400 Washes, 1200 Spots and 1200 Washes supported by the Regia Opera Control Desk.
Legend has since worked on many more projects with Cathedral of Faith, including their 2005 Easter Production, "Return of the King" which drew thousands of audience members from the bay area. Legend designed and constructed the set, as well as designed the lighting.
In order to make their exterior more interesting, Cathedral of Faith asked us to install a color changing fixture to light up the 40' cross that they have in their parking lot. We suggested an SGM Palco LED unit. It is rated for outdoor use and has a very high output. To mount the Palco, we custom built a metal stand that was theft proof and very sleek looking. Through the Palco's onboard controls, we designed an elegant color changing cue and set the instrument up to automatically turn itself on and off depending on the time of day. The Palco lights up the cross so well, that someone saw it from an airplane as they were coming in for a landing at the San Jose International Airport.
